The Unicorn was a mystical fabled creature described in ancient myths
to be placed among virgin saints and said to be an sign of purity. The unicorn is
symbolic of virginity and usually represented as a white horse-like creature with a single spiraled horn projecting from it's forehead. It was alleged that unicorns acted much like an untamed, wild bucking bronco, but, they could be tamed by a virgin's touch.
It was believed that the unicorn's horn held magical powers. It could purify water, cure poison and open locks. So the saga of "The Unicorn" story telling begins... The best known legend is that of the unicorn and the maiden. Hundreds of stories about hunters that could not catch "the unicorn" themselves, so they deceitfully swayed the help of a pure young woman, who with her innocence, could calm and almost hypnotize the unicorn into capture. Then the young maiden would feel guilty for what she had done and go off to save the unicorn from a life of despair or even worse, death. Undoubtedly, she would save the unicorn and everyone lived happily ever after. (Except of course the capturers!)
